Pearl Rings
Pearl is the birthstone for June. Most pearls are products of mollusks, mainly the oyster type. They are built up of layers of mother of pearl. Natural Pearls These are those pearls that come into being without intervention by human beings, in the ocean as in freshwater. A small foreign body naturally enters the mollusc which is then coated over time with layers of mother of pearl until a pearl is formed. Cultured Pearls In the 20th century depletion and pollution reduced the supply of natural pearls, alongside the increased demand for pearls led to the development of cultured pearls. Cultured Pearls are not imitation, but a product that has been produced with human assistance. Cultured Pearls can be cultivated in both Fresh Water Cultured Pearls and Salt Water Cultured Pearls. We have a hand selected range of Pearl Rings, New Pearl Rings and Pearl and Diamond Rings along with secondhand Pearl Rings. Pearl is a fairly soft stone and is only 2 ½ to 4 ½ on Moh's Hardness scale, (Sapphire and Ruby being 9 and Diamond being 10) but Pearls are extraordinarily compact and it is very difficult to crush them. Pearls are mostly used in dress rings or cocktail style rings but Pearl Engagement rings are also available but would need to worn with care. Our stock of Pearl Rings and Vintage Pearl Rings is constantly changing so if you cannot see what you are after today, then bookmark our site and check back in a few days.
